pure-ftpd-common software package provides Pure-FTPd FTP server (Common Files), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pure-ftpd-common
pure-ftpd-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pure-ftpd-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pure-ftpd-common *
You will get with pure-ftpd-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
